You help us, to help them.
This September we’re going GOLD for PACT, to help raise funds so they can help families fighting cancer.
Who are they?
PACT: The Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia, offer emotional and practical support to families in South Yorkshire who have children and young individuals battling cancer, aiming to enhance their quality of life.
2 years ago we made a dinosaur arch for a boy we had never met
A friend contacted us… “there’s this boy, he’s called Jude, and he’s not very well. His parents are holding a fundraising birthday party for him to help him get treatment and I wondered if you’d be willing to help…” We looked them up.. The Mellon-Jamesons’: The night before his third birthday they found out he was battling high risk neuroblastoma. It was now coming up to his fourth birthday and he was fighting the cancer like a trooper. We had a daughter who was four, and a family who faced a rife risk of cancer. We instantly wanted to help, so we did.

After then, we followed their journey, helping where we can and supporting them online. For Jude’s fifth birthday we provided Jude’s Wonderland. It truly was one to remember. Jude was a joy to be around, and he was fighting fit. But unfortunately, like cancer cruelly can, Jude took a turn shortly after his birthday.

Jude unfortunately passed away in September 2023.
Since then his wonderful parents continued his legacy with Jude and The Book Factory, and became trustees of PACT. We support them in everything they do, and they support us too.
At Christmas, we were able to support 43 children in need at a local primary school. Jude and The Book Factory donated 50 books to our fundraiser, to help these children. You can see more on this here
Helping PACT, helping others
Jude’s passing impacted people like an earthquake. From people who had never met him, people who met him for a short time; like us, and people who knew him so well. He lit up rooms and was truly magical.
Since then, his parents showed us what PACT was about and we wanted to help in ways that we can. Recently we supported the PACT charity ball. The ball raised funds for the charity with a raffle and we were grateful to not only decorate the ball, but to also attend.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we hope that you can all get behind the brilliant people who support all these children and families. We hope to announce an initiative by ourselves in September to helps raise funds, so keep an eye on our socials. And in the meantime, we hope that telling you our story about meeting Jude, Lucy and Arron, will help you to find out more about them. Click for PACT here, and Jude and the Book Factory here.
